What’s The Opportunity?
We’re hiring a Business Development Representative (BDR) to help us expand our sales qualification process for new customers.
Initially, you’ll be learning more about the business, our process, and the types of customers we typically work with.
Ultimately, you’ll be helping potential customers better understand our new customer onboarding / sales process and persuading them to schedule appointments with our CEO.
You’ll be developing relationships, answering questions and speaking to prospects by email, via chat, and over the phone.
This is a full-time position (approximately 35 hours per week) working with us at 10x Travel. The initial contract is for six months, with a $1,800 USD monthly base salary plus incentive structure for high performance.
But we’re really looking for someone who can take charge and run profitable sections of our business long-term. Someone who will stay on through 2019 and beyond.
Ideally, you’ll transition into a senior management position long before the first six months are up as you take on additional responsibilities.
This is a location independent position, allowing you to work from wherever you’d like.

What Will I Be Doing?
We’re not a Fortune 500 company, which means you won’t be just another employee in a cubicle.
As a BDR, you’ll be responsible for managing our sales inboxes, developing the interest of incoming leads, and closing appointment bookings to support our sales process.
You’ll be expected to take control of the existing operation, work with our revenue team to strategize current campaigns and build on current strategies and processes that currently have a ton of unrealized potential.

Here are examples of tasks you might be working on, day to day:
- Communicating with the lead generation team, who run campaigns to generate new engaged prospects for the sales process.
- Emailing back a prospect who has engaged with one of our outreach campaigns.
- Updating and managing our Deals CRM, to maintain an accurate picture of our sales pipeline.
- Making a call to a potential customer wanting to know more about how we help tour operators grow sales.
- Scheduling a strategy session or sales demo between a potential customer and our CEO.
- Contributing to our SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) with the things you do and learn on the job.
- Collaborating with our team, as part of our team, via Slack or Zoom.
Because we’re a smaller team, you should expect to wear different hats at times as the company continues to grow.
This Position Is Perfect For You If…
You love to empathise, influence and negotiate.
We want people that understand the dynamics of influence and persuasion, someone that is knowledgeable (or willing to become knowledgeable) about how to effectively sell and how to work with people. At this level, it’s not enough to be a bulldozer – you must have the innate ability to understand what someone else is going through, and to meet them where they’re at.
You’re creative and can bring in new prospects and opportunities.
We have a ton of processes in place, and our marketing machine is growing all the time, giving us more and more leads coming through our funnels. That being said, you should also bring your own unique set of skills to generate potential customers. Who knows? Maybe your unique set of skills is something we start making part of our standard procedures!
You have no problem reaching out to people.
Our business has a lot of moving parts, and one of those moving parts is effective communication. You will be making calls, familiarizing prospects with our business, and persuading them to commit their time and energy to our consultation process. Ultimately, this is a sales position, so you need to be comfortable dealing with rejection, getting on the phone with strangers, and answering hostile questions as they come at you.
You’re a self-starter.
We’re looking for someone who gets shit done and delivers on time. Ideally you are self-directed, self-motivated, and don’t need someone to look over your shoulder or hold your hand. This is a remote position, so you’ll need to be organized enough to make sure that you’re on top of everything.
You’re a master of written communication.
Sales letters… proposal documents… prospecting emails… effective writing that cuts through the noise is a must-have skill in this sales game. Your wordsmithery needs to be tight, engaging and persuasive – and we’ll ask you to prove it. There should be no doubts about your style and ability to create a solid call to action. Make sure you answer question three of the application with ‘plenty’ as the first word.
You’re cool on digital marketing.
You don’t have to already be a marketing wizard, but if the terms ‘lead magnet’ and ‘email automation’ sound foreign to you, it might be worth reconsidering if you have the foundations this position requires. You’re going to be selling marketing technology, so you’re tech-savvy. Ideally you’ve read a few books, taken a few courses, or have a fledgling side project of your own that demonstrates your skills.
We want hungry, eye-on-the-prize hustlers that are serious about changing their lives and building businesses.

How Do I Apply?
Here is the sequence of events we’ll use to hire our BDR:

- Step 2: We review the submissions, shortlist the top 10 candidates and send out an aptitude test for you to complete. Time required: approximately one hour.
- Step 3: We schedule video chat interviews with the top 3 candidates to make a final decision.
- Step 4: We make our hiring announcement (October 15th).
- Step 5: The chosen candidate starts working at 10x Travel (October 22nd).
