Why Should You Work With Nathan James?
Nathan James are a startup furniture company based in LA and Montreal. They focus on creating fashionably designed furniture that is highly affordable, while also durable and easy to assemble.
This is a unique proposition in the eCommerce furniture market and it solves a big problem for young urban dwellers who don’t want to compromise on any of the above. It’s the reason the founder started the company in the first place.
This is a forward thinking company that puts great design front and centre. A lot like their products, you won’t have to make compromises working at Nathan James. You’ll enjoy the flexibility of remote working, while also learning everything about eCommerce and entrepreneurship to take your career to the next level.
All you’ll need are some great time management skills, a meticulous attention to detail and a positive entrepreneurial attitude ready to solve problems and take the company to new heights.
You’ll be working directly with Ryan, who’ll be your mentor for everything eCommerce and marketing related.
You’ll be creating content for new product listings, increasing sales by improving site conversion metrics, and doing a lot of coordination and management of the company’s various suppliers, customers and outside partners.
Accordingly, you’ll need to have your head screwed on and the ability to manage a lot of moving parts. You’ll be expected to get up to speed quickly, figure out how everything is working and keep everything running efficiently.
You’re going to have to get your hands dirty, but that’s just what’s necessary in maintaining a well-oiled machine and seeing how a successful eCommerce operation works from the inside out. Not only will you learn heaps along the way, it will also serve you well down the line, as this is a fast growing company that has unlimited growth potential for a smart hardworking person willing to get in there and do the work.
If you’ve been looking for an opportunity to get involved in online business with a great company, this is it.
What skills will you actually need? At a minimum, you’ll need to possess the following traits to be considered a solid candidate for this position:
Well Organized: More than almost anything else, you’re going to need to have an extremely high level of self organization in order to stay on top of everything going on between responding to customers, coordinating with suppliers and partners, managing site content and everything else.
If you don’t already have an effective personal productivity / organization system setup, or you’ve never heard of the acronym “GTD”, that’s not a good sign. This position depends on a smart person who will be able to keep track of the moving parts efficiently and not let anything fall through the cracks.
Meticulous: Not only will you need to be well organized, you’ll also need to have a great attention to detail in order to keep everything running smoothly. You’ll be writing accurate product descriptions, monitoring pricing discrepancies, and a bundle of other tasks that will require detail and accuracy above all else.
It’s almost a cliche at this point that creative entrepreneur types don’t have a great attention to detail, but this is an area where you’ll need to shine. Also, make sure you respond to question five of the application with “meticulous” as the first word in your response.
Self Starter: Finally, you’ll need to have the right attitude. While you’ll receive guidance from Ryan, you’ll also need to stand on your own two feet. This means defining your own projects and initiatives, identifying issues as they come up, and generally being a superstar at coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.
You’ll be chasing down clients, following up customers and making sure all the loops are closed across all your areas of responsibility. You’ll need to take ownership to make this work.
What exactly will you be doing at Nathan James? We’ve touched on some of the tasks already, but more specifically you will be spending your time initially:
Ensuring Product Accuracy: You’ll need to make sure all the products on the site meet Nathan James’ content standards, and you’ll also need to monitor discrepancies such as pricing, stock counts and other important attributes across the site.
Publishing New Products: You’ll add new item listings, and create all relevant content in order to make this happen. This will require writing product descriptions and sales copy, as well as other relevant information.
Answering Product Questions: You’ll be interacting with customers, suppliers and outside partners on a regular basis. You’ll need to be well-acquainted with the products on the site in order to answer questions, provide information and coordinate important stock processes.
