This position is perfect for someone who wants to grow into the position of leading our sales and marketing departments. We added “Apprentice” to the title because we are looking for people who not only have some experience and interest in these areas, but are most passionate about working for a company that gives its team members freedom, respect, support, and lots of opportunities for growth.

Our company, Performance Foundry, specializes in WordPress design and development. We get down into the nitty-gritty to make amazing things. So far we’ve grown to 15 people without any defined sales and marketing people, however, the time has come to start growing that part of our company. We need someone who has marketing skills as well as sales confidence to help us grow and meet our goals. This brand new role of Sales and Marketing Associate will start out with following up with our current leads and then planning and executing the marketing plan. We have the resources and support you’ll need; we just need you to have the discipline and experience to help us.

This is a unique role…

This role is first of its kind and we are designing it to help with some very specific things. We have a solid product and our customers are happy, but it’s time we built the sales and marketing infrastructure. We are a small, fast-moving, bootstrapped company, and need someone who knows how to fit well in this environment. We will give you direction but you have to be someone who knows how to make their own decisions and take action – we need a doer, not a passenger. This is a great role for someone who has enough experience to be self-directing and knows how to produce results to allow us to continue to grow.

The role will start out as a one-person team who will be working directly with me. We know our target market and how our products serve our market. There are some tools and systems in place so we won’t be starting from scratch. We need someone who has a sales mentality, is capable of chasing deals, can fight for the contract, and is excited by hitting and exceeding sales targets.

When you are first brought on board, we will focus on working with the current sales leads and then we will develop the marketing strategy.

Sales

We have a sales and marketing inbox as well as a CRM that is hugely underutilized. We have a system set up to track and gather all the leads coming in through referrals and ad campaigns. One of the first things you’ll need to do is follow up and pursue these leads so we can win business from people who are already in our funnel.

Most of this will be email-based follow up with the leads from the last few months. As the leads progress through the sales cycle of our more expensive products and services, these leads will need proposals and discovery calls. I am here to provide support for that and be a part of important sales calls.

Working with our leads and selling our services will give you excellent insights into the market and teach you a lot about our company. This experience will position you to begin working on marketing.

Marketing

After the things are underway with the current leads, we’ll jump into the marketing.

First, we’ll leverage the tools we are using such as:

  • Email marketing
  • Content writing
  • Paid search

After working with the current tools, we can start implementing new marketing strategies based on your ideas and what we’ve learned from the sales and marketing we’ve done so far. Don’t worry, you won’t be left on your own. I’ll be here to help you get things going but I expect you’ll have the skills to take these processes, improve them, and operate fairly independently. I imagine this process of getting things going with the sales and marketing will take about two months.

With all these pieces up and running, we can strategize and plan for what is next. That may mean growing the team, adding new tools etc. This is a promising opportunity with lots of growth. If you are someone who has the skills to take our company where it needs to be and is able to figure things out and doesn’t need lots of direction, then you could be a great fit!

Hours

Koru Group Ltd has a virtual team with staff either traveling or working from their own homes and/or cafes and co-working spaces. We celebrate and enjoy the freedom and creativity this brings, but realize it can be hard to know how much work to do.

You will be responsible for tracking your own time and hours, but you will be expected to work around 40 hours a week from Monday to Saturday with at least 25 hours being during local business hours (Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm).

There will be some compulsory meetings to attend each week. As a global team, there are people working in every timezone. You do not need to respond to messages outside of your work hours, except in case of emergency or for pre-arranged meetings. In some cases, you may be asked to work over a particular time range to achieve a project goal. We expect you to make every effort to achieve this.

We may run staff/contractor meet-ups or help finance conference or similar professional development opportunities from time to time in locations around the world. If invited, we hope you will attend if possible.

Compensation and Perks

  • This role will start at $2000 a month with target-based bonuses. We believe in supporting our team and offer opportunities for raises and growth.
